Native American flutes in noble wood

Walnut, maple, olive, oak, padauk, purpleheart, azobé: every species has its own voice. Walnut attacks cleanly, maple brightens the timbre, olive softens it, oak reaches down into the low end. The wood is not chosen for its look but for the key it has to carry — it decides the body of the piece.

In exchange for that richness, wood asks for care: it is alive and it dislikes humidity and temperature swings. Fed and stored sheltered, it develops a patina over the years and gains roundness.
